600 New Homes in Bridlington – Bridlington viewed as a seaside resort, minor fishing port and a civil parish.
600 New Homes in Bridlington – It is based on the holderness coast of the North Sea n the East Riding of Yorkshire. It has a population of 33000 and this rises during the tourist season.
A 600 home development is taking place in this region and this is expected to boost the housing sector in the city. The properties developed will be made up of at least 20% for affordable housing under the following conditions as stipulated by the inspectors:
- Evnvironmental sustainability
- Removal of the west end harbour in the construction
The complex will be made of a high proportion of smaller units, from one-bedroom flats to small town houses Points The plan was referred to communities secretary Eric Pickles last year over concerns it would damage the commercial viability of the harbour and have a negative impact on the area’s heritage.
Inspector Sian Worden decided the plan was ‘ambitious but not unreasonably so’ and said it was well-researched and convincingly evidenced after public hearings late last year and in May this year. Stephen Parnaby, leader of Bridlington Council, said: ‘This is the news that Bridlington has been waiting for.
The council can now really progress Bridlington’s transformation to a more prosperous future. ‘Bridlington has been in long-term decline for many years and there needs to be both a robust plan and our collective unrelenting commitment for the regeneration of the town.’ The action plan must be recommended to full council by December this year and a planning application will be put in as soon as the action plan is adopted.
