Credit Crunch Forces: Taylor Wimpey has announced plans to close 13 of its 39 regional offices and to lose approximately 600 employees, in a bid to reduce overheads during this current housing market downturn.
Credit Crunch Forces: The company told staff of the plans, with the cuts representing around 30 per cent of its British workforce based in the Bryant and George Wimpey house building division A spokesperson commented, “We have now entered a 30-day consultation period to determine the details of the plans, the possible redeployment of some staff and the reallocation of sites across other businesses. ” Taylor Wimpey, has already cut 40 per cent of its staff in the United States, following the credit crunch devastation. Ian Sutcliffe, former UK chief executive has also left his position at Taylor Wimpey, leaving Peter Redfern, Group Chief Executive to now manage both the UK and US divisions.
